Re: Autumn Cottonwoods......
The upload has worked OK, Len.
Best viewed with the Lightbox option which brings out more contrast than is visible with the lower quality image seen above.

Re: Autumn Cottonwoods......
Len,
This is a very nice capture, but it needs more processing: it's washed out, and there isn't much separation between the trees and the mountain.
The first thing I noticed is that the histogram doesn't cover the full tonal range. Just raising the black point and lowering the white point to get more tonal range makes a very big difference.
To illustrate, I did a very quick and dirty edit. First, I changed the white and black points with a levels adjustment. Then I added a small amount of midtone contrast globally with a curve. Then I used a brush to darken the mountains and add midtone contrast just to them. Not a good edit, but enough to show the directions I'm thinking of. This is a good capture, and it's worth more time on the keyboard.

Geoff, cheers for that....
Dan, Thanks for your input. I will revisit the image tomorrow along the lines suggested.
