    Portrait in Color

    C&C welcome
    Portrait in Color
This photo was made several years ago. My criticism of this photo is the skin looks plastic. I would like comments and/or criticism on the lighting. This lady was once a professional model.

Bruce, I take it that this is not the original but an edit processed to "smooth" the skin in which case there may be no way back.

You are using a classic beauty lighting technique here called "butterfly" or "Paramount" lighting. The "butterfly" comes from the shadow cast by the nose, just beneath it, which bears a passing resemblance to a "butterfly". You have done the lighting well, but there are some other issues with the image, like the skin retouch.
