Another well photographed subject using Rembrandt lighting, with the triangle of light just below the camera left eye. A cleaner, better defined triangle would have required that the light be set a little farther to the right. Rembrandt lighting is quite dramatic; as seen by that dark shadow on the camera left side.

The only thing that could be stronger from a composition standpoint is that foot is a little too close to the left edge of the image and if you had framed your shot so that your subject was shifted just a little more to the camera right side, the image would be a bit stronger.

Something to think about is whether Rembrandt lighting is appropriate for a shot like this one, because it is so dramatic. Traditional "beauty lighting" using either loop lighting or butterfly lighting. With young women in a subtle pose, we generally use a less aggressive lighting pattern; usually up to around 1-stop difference between the lit side and the shadow side. Rembrandt lighting is often associated with male portraits.

If you were photographing a female athlete, you could use this lighting style.

Very nice portrait. I agree with Manfred that Rembrandt lighting is considered a bit aggressive for women subjects, but this is really halfway between Rembrandt and loop lighting and it works well here, so if it isnt broken, dont fix it !
And yes, a bit more space on the left would be nice.

I also like this image but, wonder if I would not like it a bit better if it were shot from a little higher angle. That way, her face and upper body would be larger and more important than her knees and hands...
