    Photoshop update

If you are using Adobe CC, you will have had, or shortly will have, an update to Photoshop to version 24.0.0 and ACR to v 15.0

While most of your settings will be maintained, there is a little "gotcha" which always seems to happen when there is a major update like this one is.

Open a raw file in Photoshop and it opens in Camera Raw. At the bottom of the frame there is a link which tells you what your output settings are. if you were previously using 16 bit output, you may find it has changed back to the default 8 bit. Click the link and change your setting to 16 bit, then open the image. You should now be back to 16 bit for all subsequent uses in ACR.

Thanks Peter, as you say always a 'Gotcha'. I have used 16 bit as standard forever and almost certainly would not have noticed immediately!

Was in the process of applying the updates as your post popped up!

Thanks for pointing this out. There doesn't seem to be any place to change this in the preference menu anymore, but changing it at the bottom of one image in camera raw within photoshop does appear to be "sticky".

    Hi Dan

You can also change it in Photoshop/edit/preferences/file handling.... click on the "Camera raw Preferences" box and it brings up the same Camera Raw Preferences box as the link took you to.

    Hi Peter,

thanks. It's rather buried. In this version, I had to go to File handling/ camera raw preferences/ workflow.

While there, I noticed that the update also changed my color working space from prophoto to Adobe, so worth checking that as well.

    Dan
