Hi my name is James I was recommended this forum by a friend so here I am. I`ve always been interested in photogrphy and 4 years ago bought a Canon 700D, then a 80D. I haven`t had much time to use them but took the 80D to Australia and NZ. I have recently just come back from a 3 week holiday from South Africa which I took the 700D and it rekindled my interest. I am thinking of getting a 5D Mk4 to replace the 700D, apart from the obvious advantages it also takes the same battery as the 80D (which will solve a headache that I had in SA which was my fault and as in a rush)
I have only really have tried photographing racing cars (from specator areas unfortunatly) and would like to expand what to photograph.

    Hello,
I instruct forensic photography at the FLETC, in Glynco, GA. I am the youngest daughter of a very famous White House Photographer, Robert Knudsen. He was the White House photographer serving Presidents Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon and Ford. I have gone through the progressions of media from B&W film to Color then onto digital and now the onslaught of cell phone cameras. My favorite subjects to photograph are animals and night photography. I love the tutorials on this site, they are insightful and informative and help me instruct to newbies.

I have a website www.ProSkyPhoto.com I do not consider myself a particularly artful photographer, but I love taking photos.

Welcome to everyone who has joined the forum since I last said hello on here. Great to have you all. And, Yvonne, your father made some iconic images. It is a particular pleasure to welcome his daughter.

Welcome to the site, Edward, Mark and Rob. Hope to see plenty of activity from all of you.

Rob, you mention C&C. This is mostly a friendly site although you can get plenty of information here. Replies tend to be framed around the exact questions you ask and often something like 'This isn't quite working, so what would you suggest' gets a lot more replies than 'Here is a perfect photograph, aren't I clever'.

My name is Richard, and i live in Adelaide, South Australia.

Photography was my earliest interest. Now that I am retired I have the opportunity to indulge this interest. In doing this, it has developed into a passion. I have developed my skills through courses, a local photography club, and through posting on photographic sites on Face Book. All have been useful, but i feel the need to take myself further. I have heard good things about this site, so I am looking forward to whatever feedback and exchanges can occur.

Aussie, what ever that means in the 21st century.
I own a 5x4 monorail, a 'Blad, and use an iPhone [indiscriminately]
I also use a variety of mostly Canon cameras to photograph the world around me.

I was going to say there are enough Aussie here already. However you appear to be from Victoria which puts you in a different class from most of the others. As does having a 5x4 monorail. If you keep very quiet about the IPhone you should fit in well...

    Welcome aboard.

Hi I am retired now, but in the early 1960's I won International awards in photography and was promoted by Kodak who organised one-man exhibitions of my special effect photography. I had invented my own technique that was based on projection photography. My way of painting with Light. As there is a lot more interest these days in using film I have my own website that describes exactly how I achieved my pictures, without any computer software and without any darkroom chemistry.

Why not take a few minutes to briefly introduce yourself as a new member, but please do not post images for comment in this thread - it's just for introductions. You are welcome to post one image to demonstrate your photography style.

It can be confusing joining a new forum. The following information may help you in getting established here. We know you want to get started, but reading this will help you get started properly.

CONDUCT - The general emphasis here is on support and learning. To do that, we often give detailed criticism on shots, where people have asked for it. We always try to do that in a fair, polite, and balanced manner. We also have a lot of fun on here, making humorous comments with one another. But again, it's nearly always done in a friendly manner, softened with the use of smilies.

If you follow the above guidelines you won't go far wrong. We rarely have a problem with things that are said on-line. However, the Admin/Mod group monitor all activity on this site, and any inappropriate comment will be removed or edited. We urge all new members to read the Code of Conduct FAQ.

TUTORIALS - Try our famous tutorials, especially if you have a specific or general technical question. See the menu at the top of the page.

POSTING - Just start a new thread to ask a new question/start a discussion/post your images, but please give some thought to starting it in the correct section. Or just reply to existing threads to join in with a discussion that is in progress. If you are doubtful about posting your work, then please read this How to Get Effective Feedback for your Posted Images The FAQ (on menu above) will give you general assistance if you have difficulty FAQ forum usage

    Hi. I'm
I have enjoyed the "Ugly Hedgehog" for many years, and just stumbled on to "Cambridge in Color" today. It sounds like a fun and informative sight, so here I am.

I've been a casual photographer for over 70 years. My grandmother was an accomplished photographer and painter. Dad had 2 Leicas and liked to the record activities and travels of the family. I got the bug from them.

My camera is an old, but good, Canon D7. Nothing fancy, but adequate for my needs.

I have a basic philosophy: If you have a camera with you, you see and appreciate things more, whether you use it or not.

I still have to figure out how to post here. When I do, they will be under my name.

    Cheers!
    Jim Coulson
