    Dal Lake Girl

I snapped this image while travelling through the channels on Dal Lake in Srinigar, India. There are around 1000 houseboats here and this shot was taken outside of one. The girl is stepping into one of the wooden boats that locals used to get around here.

This area of India is predominantly Muslim, a legacy from the Arab traders that travelled the Silk Road bringing goods from China to Europe.

Photographing men is quite easy and they can be very photogenic. Woman and girls tend to shy away from the camera, so stealth and a long focal length do help...

Peter I thought the same thing. Then again it could be a local mannerism that glosses to "you owe me $2".

Nicely blurred background. Would that be due to the new feature in Photoshop? I certainly use it.

No that is purely a result of using f/5.6 at 300mm focal length.
