Week 52 - Never mind the weather - fly the flag and go to the beach. We have had a spell of gales and rain but today was bright sunshine although with a fresh cool wind so I went to a local cove for a much needed walk.

The second image is most interesting to me. I love how the little house sits above the water's edge. Is it rented out?

I'm never sure which is first when more than one image is posted so I'll refer to the image by title. "Sunny day after a gale yesterday" is just what is needed to life the spirits after a battering! Thanks for posting Geoff.

Thanks for the comments. Those little buildings on the cliff edge are just privately owned picnic huts which make a sunny place to sit during the summer days.

There are some narrow cliff top gardens there and this is the road entrance.

The beach site has a car park and cafe so it is a popular spot which is a comfortable walking distance from the town.

I have finished a little early this year so I will add a few extras.

X-01 Some sunshine at last. We have recently had a lot of dull weather so a little sunshine tempted me outside. I had a short walk beside what was an old World War 2 airstrip. The remains of the control tower are in the foreground.

Part of the old airfield is still used by small privately owned planes. I should have changed to my 70-200 lens but this plane appeared too quickly and I was worried about being caught with two lenses in my hands and none on the camera. It also touched down further away than I expected.

Extra 02 - Back to drab weather. It was dry this morning and I needed a bit of a walk so when the light fractionally improved I had another visit to North Sands. Definitely not photographic weather - but I had a go anyway.

The first of the two stormy photos is definitely dramatic, in part because of the lighting and almost black and white colour.

i've enjoyed your photos through the year and hope that you will continue next year.

Thank you for your comments, Bruce. It was the stark trees against the sky and overall gloomy appearance which drew my attention to that particular corner of the beach. Maybe the sea could take a bit more brightness but I fear that would loose the drab British winter feel to the scene.

As an alternative, here are a couple of scenes from this morning which was a totally different day; although it still ended up with misty rain.

Extra 03 - From the harbourside path. Calm and sunny with a blue sky. Both a merge of two bracketed exposures
