Week 9 - SHOCKING

I've spent the past week in my garage on a project and can't get out to take photos. So I shot "Shocking," a piece I made two years ago that now hangs in my garage. I removed the outlet from a Bronx apartment, and what struck me was the colorful mix of paints on its cover—proof that no one ever bothered to remove it before painting. I thought that was Shocking. I now realize there was no need to remove the cover; just paint over it. I also think spending this much time on a painted electrical outlet is truly Shocking. Plenty of shocks to go around.

WEEK 10 - The Rhythm of the Unseen
A glint in the sunlight caught my eye—a single, nearly invisible strand swaying in the breeze. I watched as it lifted and fell, its gentle pulsations pulling me in as if I were watching the quiet rhythm of a heartbeat.



How much do we miss, lost in the scatter of our thoughts, as the quiet beauty of the moment slips by unnoticed? How many unseen wonders wait for our stillness?

When we allow ourselves to be carried away by our thoughts, we miss the serene beauty of the moments around us. We just look and do not see.

It is in the quiet moments, when we pause, that the true wonders of life emerge, often unnoticed amid the rush of our daily lives.

Week -12 - STREET SHOTS
Old City, Casablanca
The Old City in Casablanca is a maze of alleyways and narrow streets. There were no tourist shops, just a place people call home. When it was time to leave the area, we had no idea how to find our way out. My wife spoke to a local, and a lady nearby said, "I speak English." She guided us step by step through the winding paths out of the old city. It took about 15 minutes of walking before we finally reached the exit. Grateful for her help, my wife offered her a tip that she adamantly refused. It just goes to show that you can meet the nicest people in an ally.

I think the image I posted is not the original. It had some processing done to it. I'm not even going to try to find the original. That should tell you something about my organizational skills.

A Suwanee Morning
This early morning photo captures the Suwannee River in a moment of calm, its waters high and still. The river rises and falls—an ever-changing flow that speaks to the beauty of nature’s rhythm.

Thank you for your comments, Geoff, Bill, and Dan. I've gone to this spot several times over the year, trying to get a good shot. I'm still undecided about this one, and I'm still looking at it.

I love the misty atmosphere of this photograph, which gives it a touch of mystery and creates an almost magical ambience. The fog wraps around the landscape like a soft veil, revealing only the essentials and sparking the viewer’s imagination. The muted tones and the presence of trees emerging from the mist reinforce the sense of tranquillity but also of secrecy, as if we were witnessing a hidden place.

The composition is very well executed, with the branches of the tree delicately framing the scene, guiding the eye towards the mist-covered horizon.

Even so, I enhanced this effect by opting for a wider framing, maintaining the same overall atmosphere but allowing more of the surrounding beauty to be revealed. In doing so, I believe the sense of immersion and mystery becomes even stronger, inviting us to explore every detail of the landscape.

I know the quality resulting from my treatment is miserable, but it serves only the essential purpose of showing what I felt when I saw this beautiful image.
