    Re: more macro

Les Norman, you’ve got some beautiful macro shots, congratulations on your work!
In the first image - which I believe shows a bee - the flower might be slightly overexposed, perhaps due to direct sunlight or being in a brighter spot.

The third photo is also very interesting. I found myself imagining how it might look if the butterfly were slightly more in profile, showing more of its wing could possibly add even more emphasis to the delicacy of the moment.

Overall, though, it’s a very pleasant set to look at !

Antonio, the first appears to be a hoverfly, not a bee. The eyes are a clue, although if the antennae were visible, that would be definitive. Also, it appears to have only two wings. Flies are in the order diptera (two wings). Other insects have four, although in many, one pair of the wings have become a shell.

Les, very nice captures. As a macro photographer I have to say that these are far better than your last set, from a technical perspective.

An unusual angle for the Butterfly shot Les, and it works for me.

The hoverfly is Volucella zonaria. The second image is a bee but I can't identify it from that angle. Even when all the angles are shown I still find bees difficult to identify.

Orange-tip male butterflies (only males have that orange patch) spend most of their time flying around searching for females so it is difficult to find one in a position which can be photographed.
