Little glimpses of autumn
We all love the autumn colours, but like Neil in SA (and other sympathisers) I find it difficult to capture the woodland scene as my eye sees it. So when yesterday, we went to one of our favourite haunts, the local amboretum, I decided not to even try for the 'big shot' rather to concentrate on the little details of autumn.
I'm interested to know whether you think they capture the mood of autumn.................
1. A jumble of colours

2. From green, to red, to orange.........yellow............. then brown and black

3. Until they rest rejected and unpretty on the forest floor.........

4. But not forgotten and just great for small (and large) feet
Kicking leaves

5. And spring is not far away

First 4 are great, last shot doesn't really remind me of autumn though

Hi Kaye!
The shots definitely remind me of autumn. And I admire the fact that you went for the detail rather then the Big Picture.
If I may make a general suggestion for shooting this style that might make a difference in getting the “full effect”?
Look for a scene that backlights the already blazing leaves.
Usually, the more intense the light the better and it may be necessary to plan the best time of day, which isn’t always possible. But its pretty cool what a difference this can make in fall color shooting. :)

Great images and love your 'abstract art' in #1 Kaye. Wish you could have caught the young boy actually kicking the leaves in #4 (brings back memories of when mine were young) and the clarity in 5 is excellent.
Re: Little glimpses of autumn
A nice story line to complement your images! When I was younger (come to think about it, I was ALWAYS younger), I used to think that the buds came in the spring. As you show in the last shot, the buds are there all year round just waiting for the conditions to cause them to bloom.

Thanks Terry, Marie and Frank.
Terry that is a good tip, thanks. Will have a go on that one later, especially as I picked up a magazine with an article on a similar subject giving me more tips.
Marie - the boy was a very reluctant walker on Sunday. Thankfully his Dad did not mind me capturing this one. I particularly like his boots - why don't they make them in adult size ?
Re: Little glimpses of autumn
Kay...I have been wishing for a sport shoes with blinking lights on it -- I only see them in children's size too small for my feet too. Why can't they make fun wearing shoes or booth for us adults too? :o
Ok...rant on shoe style finished, I like 2, 4 and 5...the last one somewhat resembles a magnolia flower starting tip...I like that it is close enough to see it's furry texture...
