6 - Anhinga

7 - Jabiru - This is a huge bird. He is the Pantanal Symbol bird. It reaches as much as 1,5m high and almost 3m across the wings! I can not describe the emotion of seeing one of these monsters flying over our heads.

15 - A couple of Hyacinth macaw - These are found only in certain parts of Brazil (Pantanal included). A rare opportunity. (This was heavily cropped, due to the distance - They usually fly high!)

Re: The Big Birds - Pantanal - Thread three
It must have been exciting to see the jabiru and the rare macaws. The Bare-faced curasaw is striking. You did a good job finding a lot of birds, and getting many of them in flight. The great blue herons up here seem to usually have brownish necks.
Re: The Big Birds - Pantanal - Thread three
Great shots, the black-collared hawk and hyacinth macaws are stunning birds.
Re: The Big Birds - Pantanal - Thread three
Awesome I loved the shots.
Re: The Big Birds - Pantanal - Thread three
Nice series, so many favorites for me and one oddity (#13) which works just as well.
Re: The Big Birds - Pantanal - Thread three
Hard to find a favourite, Otavio...so many of them to choose from, all good ones...except for the last one which part of the head is a bit confusing to look at...All very nicely done...
Re: The Big Birds - Pantanal - Thread three
Another very impressive collection Otávio. I am in awe of your shooting skills! I also really appreciate the fact that you identify the birds and give background information that makes the viewing much more enjoyable.
Re: The Big Birds - Pantanal - Thread three
+1 to Frank's comments Otavio, another wonderful series!

Thanks, Nick. I appreciate your comments. Cheers,

Superior as always Otavio...great detail, spot on exposure. I do envy you! ;)
Re: The Big Birds - Pantanal - Thread three
Hi Otavio,
Beautiful set! My favourite is the Caracara taking off likely not only for the tack sharp action shot but because you made the background work so beautifully. Followed by the Caracara #17, and Anhinga shots. Capturing Hyacinth Macaw's in flight - WoW!
Re: The Big Birds - Pantanal - Thread three
Thanks for sharing those beautiful images Otavio :) I haven't seen a Jabiru before, amazing bird !

Otavio, this is a very special series. I like the rail, partly because I know how hard it is to photograph these little guys. The caracara head is also exceptional. Nice work.
Re: The Big Birds - Pantanal - Thread three
Another excellent set of images and very informative. I've never seen nor heard of the jabiru. That's a massive bird. Nicely done.
Re: The Big Birds - Pantanal - Thread three
+1 to Dan's reply, I'd not heard of the Jabiru either Otávio,
I think my fav. is #2, the Caracara launching itself.
Even your 'much cropped' #15, the Hyacinth macaws, isn't as bad as some of my shots of the local ring-necked parakeets, which also tend to fly fast, high and perch in the tallest of trees. (30m +)
Well done,

Great set Otavio. Hard to pick a favourite.
