Love or Honey?

I think it might be the honey.

The bird is not quite as sharp as I would like, still thought it worth sharing.

Hi Nandakumar, thanks for commenting.

I don't think it is the same bird although, there is a slim chance that it is.

Each day, my wife and I feed around 80 visiting birds. The actual number varies of course, with 150 being the maximum and perhaps 10 minimum.

They comprise three main species with a sprinkling of only two or three others. As you can probably guess from previous posts, two of the main species that we see on a daily basis are the Rainbow Lorikeets and Noisy Mynas. The third are Pied Butcherbirds which exhibit different behaviour and are not so photogenic.

If you have seen one Myna Bird, you've seen them all! So, if they look like the same bird, the possibility that it is actually the same bird, is very slim.

The three birds from the previous post that you provided the link to in this thread, may or may not be the same bird. Your guess is as good as mine!

As we have been feeding these birds for around 8 years now, they know where to come each morning and afternoon for a free feed. They are quite used to me photgraphing them. Parent birds show the young where to come!

Ah, so lovely .The image is nice but the feeling it conveys is more important to me, peace and happiness :) I think the flashlight brightened the hand too much and my eyes go to the hand first. IMO darkening the hand a bit with PP might give a more balanced look.

Thank you very much, Binnur. I'm glad that the image conveyed that feeling for you. When I was thinking of a title for this thread, the word 'peace' occurred to me a couple of times.

I have taken your suggestion, also pulled-back the light on the shirt and removed the shiny reflection from the honey on my finger(s).

Hope I didn't darken it too much!?

Did you go back and read my description in the previous thread, Nadakumar? In there you will see that I trigger the camera with a pair of Yongnuo RF603's remote shutter release units.

The camera has been manually focussed right in the zone where my hand is. This was shot at f/10, so I have a fair DOF (although the bird is not quite as sharp as I would like). I wait patiently for a bird to arrive and eat the bread with honey that I'm holding. The remote shutter release is in my other hand!!!!

Very nice result.

Yes I have some trouble with tynipic. I succeeded in transferring one color picture yesterday but was unable to upload 2 monochrome pictures. I tried again today, same trouble "upload failed"

It looks much better Chris, my eyes go to the bird now :)

Another regular member (not Jean) did PM me about having TinyPic problems, but they cleared up after he did a few things, but now I'm thinking that may have been coincidental, TinyPic has a habit of experiencing random problems that can last anything from a few minutes to a few days.

Hopefully it will be working again by now, the problems are sometimes limited to certain areas of the world and while some members can use it OK, others can't, or they sometimes see incorrect images.

Getting to your picture, I do prefer the version with the less bright hand and sleeve.

Heads or tails? I sent a PM to Donald yesterday evening. As he suggested I tried again today to upload and got "upload failed" as soon as you try to upload . Curiously I tried to upload a monochrome on the thread of Donald and it works, so immediately I tried again on mini competition in B&W and again the same "upload failed" I cannot understand:cool::eek::(

Although I cannot do as you do handfeeding the birdie, I did learn a few things from the conversation already started here between you and Binnur and of course Nandy. I prefer the second one too after the edit, Chris. I know of some people around here feeding the deers but not the birds.
