Seeing the light

As could be seen from the "Water of life" shots, I was not quite managing to get hold of this "glass" genre. When all else fails, listen to good advice, and read the manual.

EDIT: I realise that the glass in the B&W shot needs to be centred but got carried away a bit by actually getting a half-decent "Glass" shot.

Well, whatever you did, it seems to have worked. This is a pair of excellent images. I do love the surfaces underneath and in the background - simple and effective.

Bill, those are very nice, especially the second one. I've never had sherry. What does it taste like?

Both very good shots Bill, whatever you did, works. I am just wondering --- out of curiousity, if it is possible for you to have a background that you can pull forward, e.g., Savage Seamless continous paper, it will eliminate the line down the bottom or the continous part in the bottom of the paper reflects light upwards? (I do not know how to put this question properly...)

I know what you mean Izzie and yes it is easy to do, but I wanted it as shown here this time around.

It's a fortified wine that originated in the Jerez region of Spain. There are lots of versions that range from very light in colour and very dry, to dark and rich and sweeter. The drink has become known by the generic name of "Sherry" - an approximate English pronunciation of the Spanish. The Wikipedia entry is quite good.

My personal preference is for the lighter, drier, versions such as a manzanilla.
