What is your opinion on the "Oil" plugin in Photoshop
I like the "Oil" plugin in Photoshop. I don't abuse using it but, I think. some of my photos look better with it.
But when I post such pics in various galleries I find people do not approve of transforming a photograph into an oil picture. What do you think of it? Here is one example of such a pic:

I'm afraid that I am one of the ones that are not keen. A good photograph doesn't need it, and it won't improve a bad one.

I liked the technique, except on sky where it appears too strokey...
Re: What is your opinion on the "Oil" plugin in Photoshop
I do not use these filters in my day-to-day work as they turn an image into something that does not resemble a photograph.
I have tried these filters in some of my photocomposite work where the impact works at times.

I find it can sometimes work for abstract images or compositing but generally I don't really care for the effect much.

I think it's kinda cool. Probably only good to use in certain circumstances but I like the effect in this example. The sky almost has a Van Gogh look. IMO, this example would look great printed on canvas.

That's it! I also thought of Van Gogh when I applied the plugin to this picture. This is the only pic with the OIL plugin. I tried it on other photos but was not satisfied with the result.
Thank you!
