Tried my hands on digital landscapes....for C&C
I had been looking at some silhouette shots lately and got these two from my trip to Florida last month...these are what I got. Tried to find the black points on both so I gave up because the colours changes to something which was not the true scene when I took these very early in the morning...
1 From the backyard of the house we were staying in...those little islands have oysters in them...very edible!!!http://i66.tinypic.com/n62glw.jpg
2 This one is from an earlier shot of the same morning just as the sun was shining. I already have a lot of sunrises from this scenery from the past so I decided to just do silhouettes instead on both these one-shot wonders...Bill was watching me with his coffee at the deck and said, take those! take those! it got birds flying to enhance your shot. I nearly did not take it because he was talking photography talk...must be rubbing on him...  I got another one with 2.5 bird but I like this one even though two is not a good number for objects in a shot...

3 Please C&C...these are another first for me...along this line.
Re: Tried my hands on digital landscapes....for C&C
On the first one - I think there's too much of a big block of darkness at the bottom third of the frame. If you were to crop it so that the bottom right corner of the frame just had a very little bit of grass showing, that would create a more panoramic picture but give something that, I think would be better balanced.
The second one - is a beauty. Don't think it needs that bit of tree sticking into the frame top right, but other than that, don't see a lot to moan about. You could make an argument for cloning out the bird nearer the left hand edge.
Re: Tried my hands on digital landscapes....for C&C
You exposed the first one too much to be considered a silhouette, only issue with the shot is the bird looks like a speck. Second one works fine for me. Nicely done on both.
Re: Tried my hands on digital landscapes....for C&C
First image would work better for me with a 16:9 crop losing the lower section of the image to do so.
The second is beautiful, but close out the tree top right
Re: Tried my hands on digital landscapes....for C&C
Lovely captures Izzie, I love #2 very nice pal! :)
Re: Tried my hands on digital landscapes....for C&C
I especially love the 2nd image - absolutely gorgeous! I'd also clone out or crop off the tree branch on the top right.
Re: Tried my hands on digital landscapes....for C&C
I like both of these Izzie especially no.2. And I see nothing wrong with featuring two birds, it's what you saw and liked and has its own 'narrative' and they are nicely placed. Beautiful peaceful image that draws you in.

Hi Izzie,
Two beautiful images. +1 to Donald's comments.
Would you mind posting the exif for the second shot?
Andre
Re: Tried my hands on digital landscapes....for C&C
Hi Izzie, #2 makes me jealous! Dont't think I would change a thing. #1 though... I agree with previous comments regaring the need to crop. I tend to favour pretty extreme crops so I would go for a letterbox taking out most of the dark area at the bottom (Donald's recommendation), but I'd also crop from the top quite a bit too, maybe as far down as the bird?. You should then be able to enhance the the vibrance of the image and emphasise the cloud and sky and maybe darken to move it to more of a silhouette.
Very nice captures though! Only been to Florida once a few years ago, and these make me want to re-visit ;)
Re: Tried my hands on digital landscapes....for C&C
Beautiful shots Izzie. I especially like the 2nd shot and agree about cloning out the tree in the top right.
Re: Tried my hands on digital landscapes....for C&C
Very nice Izzie. Try the crop Donald and Greg suggested on#1 when I open it in lytebox and run it down past the schreen some it makes an improvement.
#2 really nice aside from the branch.I am on the fence about the bird on the left. both nice though.:)
Re: Tried my hands on digital landscapes....for C&C
They are beautiful....beautiful colours :)
Re: Tried my hands on digital landscapes....for C&C
Nice job, dear Izzie.
I love the colors in both images. Agree with other comments.
Glad you had a good time on your trip, and that Bill is actually "helping" you!
Marie
Re: Tried my hands on digital landscapes....for C&C
Hi Izzie, #1 is a nice image but #2 is "wow". I agree with Donald's idea for a crop on #1 as well as with the feedback to remove the bit of tree top right on #2. You did well on these :)

OK...I did as you and others have suggested and this is what I came up with...I hope it looks better now...I was hesitant to remove the tree as I thought I wouldn't be able to do it..I see now that there is still the evidence of Content Aware...but I'll get there ... back to the drawing board...:(

Thank you...Here is my edit. I didn't noticed that one...Thanks for lending me your extra eyes and the compliment that came with it and the suggestions.

Got rid of the dreaded speck of a bird. Thanks John...you know I value your opinion...

Thanks David...sorry no bugs over there. I shot a black butterfly that was not very good at all, so I thrashed it. Thanks for commenting and the preference. 'Appreciate it.

Do YOU think it looks better?

Just did...thanks. I wasn't looking before I post. Now only the first one is cropped at the sides and bottom. The originals that I uploaded was just that...I only used the digital extractor to enhance the shapes, otherwise the size was original as they are what I want to show...unfortunately...oh well, thank you for your comments. I value it as much as I do others.
