That's a pretty good shot you took there. Jiro's edit makes it pop more, but you really need to remove that guy on the right as he draws the eye away from the main subject. I know it's impossible to avoid things like that sometimes, so just crop out what you can't compose out, like this edit below (from Jiro's edit)

You say you are taking Photoshop classes next month. If you can afford it ($25 a month) you might want to also sign up for Lynda.com on-line training. They cover a whole range of subjects, such as Photoshop (inc RAW), photography basics, composition etc. You can just sign up for a month, I think. http://www.lynda.com/Member.aspx

[QUOTE=Shambhala;113440What if I shot on the setting that saves them in raw and jpeg at the same time?[/QUOTE]

Shooting both takes more memory card space and longer for the camera to store the image which, unless you need to fire off multiple shots for an action scene may be fine. The big difference in post processing with RAW is that you can't usually directly view the RAW file on your PC. You need to look at them in something like photoshop, Lightroom, Elements, etc. and convert them to Jpeg on your PC, so an extra step is involved.
