Splicing the Rope
I was taking a few photos around the Fish Quay when I saw Steve splicing together some lengths of rope. So I took a quick shot, without much thought. The light was wrong so I knew it wouldn't work well.
Then I thought, 'Try again with the flash unit', which was in my vehicle.
The flash photos were certainly technically superior but none of them had the facial expression of my first quick snap.
Far from perfect, but I like it as a quick candid snap.

Re: Splicing the Rope
Candid shots are actually my favourite type of shots. I love this one and the rope that he is sitting on. Now that I am in school I miss just taking quick snapshots.. Sometimes I think a picture can be 'overthought' this one is beautiful and it captures the moment.

Thanks for the comments.
I always think that 'candid' should mean relaxed or natural and never make the subject look bad or silly.
And because I always give a decent looking print to the subject they are happy when I'm around in the future.
For over 30 years, I was a fisherman here so that also helps.
