My First Trial at Multi Exposure Shot

For the first time I tried my hands on multi exposure shots.
I converted the RAW files into JPG & added them as a separate layer & then I wondered what to do. I had a faint idea that changing the blending should be of some help. So I tried various settings & Lighten did the job. I don't find this perfect but just wanted to share this with you as is. C&C as always, would be appreciated.

I really love the lightning in this shot, and even more so love the way you've balanced it with a city scene.

However, I feel the buildings could use a little more work. First - the one building is basically as bright (if not brighter and blown out) as the lightning, and obviously competes for my attention. And then the main building seems far too dark to warrant that much of the shot. If you could find some happy medium between the two, I think you might have a very powerful image there. Look at the left wall of the main building - I think that is the brightness you may want to shoot for for all of the buildings (so some will be brightened, some will be darkened).

Out of curiosity, how many shots are combined here?

Again - beautiful lightning, I really love it. I need to make a point of trying that some day.

Very true. Thats what I was gonna try to do. It must be brought out well. I hesitated doing it as it was for the first time I was using different layer blends. I was too lazy to try how working on brightness of building in one image would effect (or not at all effect) the light on building.

Rest I completely agree that I need to work more on the building in front. I guess I have combined 5 shots here.

Just so we're clear on what I meant...

It looks like there are three buildings. Building #1 is the main building centered in the shot. To the left of that, I see Building #2 which is the one that is overly bright, and it sits between but behind both Building #1 and #3. Building #3 is the furthest to the left, and looks slightly curved and ends in the orangish glow.

Just to the right of Building #2, is the wall of Building #1 that I think should be the brightness target for all of the buildings. Right past the left front corner of Building #1.

In total there are two buildings. Building # 2 & #3 are the same building. The bright area is the corridor area, so it was brightly lit. Because of the storm there was a power cut & therefore, the building in front was absolutely dark. I will post another shot from the same night to make things more clear.

Hi Sahil,

An impressive combo, well done - more than I have ever achieved.

Although, being a hard task master - or just a plain swine, I do wonder if the buildings would 'straighten up' with some transform work.

Easy for me to say, but you'd need to be careful not to lose too much sky and lightning in the process.

Well I have pretty much negative space so I should not lose much of sky or lightening.
If you notice the black thing in the bottom, thats the railing of our balcony. I cropped the bottom but it made building coming up abruptly.
I will give it a shot though.
