    Tempted by Photoshop CS4

I said I wouldn't buy it, but I (and probably half the world) am being offered full CS4 at half price (by Adobe themselves, I hasten to add), presumably because I have registered Elements 6.

    So that's GBP278 instead 557.

I'd get all the missing extras in ACR5 over my cut down ACR4

    I'm tempted, help me.

    I have until 28th Feb.

    Dave,

I can see why you are tempted. I cant recall, are you a Mac or Windows user?

I have stuck with CS3 for the moment as CS4 for Macs I have been told is no great shakes and if anything with this release, the Windows version operates quicker? This is due to Apple/Adobe issues although these are apparently now being resolved. However the Mac version should be better in later releases, particularly since a large number of graphic/photo/artists are also Mac users.

From your point of view going from Elements though, I would do it.

I was going to order from them, but Elements has enough editing power for what I do.So,I can't say if it's a legitimate site or not.

    Ok Jim, Hans,

I'd probably only order from Adobe uk anyway, so I know its origin.
Unlikely to get a better offer, but then again was saving for a better camera, lenses and later, flash!

    Cheers,

I was lucky that someone sold his sealed package CS3 for a good price.
I got the garantee that I could register it at Adobe which I did without any problem.
I paid less then buying from Adobe but much more then from the mentioned site.

    Have a guess :)

    Re: Tempted by Photoshop CS4

I find it very difficult to PROVE the legitimacy of businesses like this - they always say that they're legit of course (what's that old saying? - Beware of the man who tells you that they're honest), but in my mind several things just don't stack up ...

    - If it's genuine product then why wouldn't they sell it for a lot more - selling at those kinds of prices simply makes people suspicious (if they were legit and selling at that price why would anyone in the world ever buy anywhere else?).

    - They say that they're buying the software through closeout auctions (and supposedly still making a good profit) - so presumably it's due to the failure of a business who's assetts were thus being liquidated - so why wouldn't genuine stock be returned to suppliers for credit or cashed up more responsibly?

    - I would be suspicious that they could get sufficient quantities through auctions to be able to continue supply.

In my opinion this most definately comes under the umbrella of "if it seems too good to be true then it probably is" - it would be interesting to hear what Adobe had to say about them (either before or after purchase).

Personally, I'd give them a miss.

    Dave,

If you are sure it's from Adobe then go for it. But then I've not been offered anything yet on the upgrade from CS3 (which is wierd) This sounds like a student offer. Let us know how this pans out mate.

    Dave,

I think that Mark is correct in thinking it is a student offer. The official student price is £155.25 but you need a letter from your college or school!

    Re: Tempted by Photoshop CS4

    Hi Mark, Ian, Colin,

What I have had is a couple of e-mails from adobe-direct.com, which contain links to the UK Adobe store and it certainly looks authentic.

As I say, it is a 50% off deal (at £278.88) rather than the student or upgrade prices.

Everything looks real, just I wasn't intending to buy but am aware I may not get another chance like this.

    Thanks,

    Re: Tempted by Photoshop CS4

Nope, decided the money would be better spent on a DSLR.

They might make the offer again, I think this was the second time.

Who knows, it might be even less next time

To be honest, I haven't made anywhere near full use of Elements yet.

    Cheers,
