I love this thread.. Squirrels are one of my favourite animals, I love them all![]()

You wouldn't say that if you were amongst the squirrels at Singleton Park, in Swansea, West Wales. They are famous (or should that be infamous?) for their bravado, and let's be honest, their sheer bloody-mindedness! 'Friendly' is a most inadequate word to use. When you approach their hang-out area you can see several of them in-line, tut-tutting under their breath as they check their Rolex wrist-watches (stolen)... "God! Rob's late again. He'd better hurry up, we have a coach party of old-age-pensioners from Birmingham in half an hour...".
Their demands are exacting. Not only do they want to discuss the works of Proust (which I have never read), but they also want to compare notes on the latest Audi model, or Black Berry smart phone, which they will use to call their pals in Regent Park, London. But, of course, what they really want is the muesli bar that is in your camera bag. This guy, after a terse greeting, unzipped my camera bag, rummaged through the more embarrassing contents, threw out my only 'L' lens and finally found the muesli bar I was saving for lunch. He sat back on his haunches, chewing contentedly, with a look that said "What! You still here, Rob? You're done, matey."
LOL Rob, Not sure what I enjoyed more the story with the photo or the photo itself.. Great Stuff, Maybe you should also consider a writing career. I wanted to read more ! I love the furry little guy, I think that's a great capture... !![]()
I was at the Hay Literary Festival yesterday, maybe some of it rubbed off.
This video was shot in the same spot that I took my shots above. Not my video.

Wow, going to have to book a trip to Wales... I love that video!!! I thought the squirrels and birds were friendly here in Canada, but nothing like that.. I want a squirrel to step on my hand too!!I think you should definitely put some of those literary skills to use... ! or maybe you have and are secretly holding out on us??

Now then Miss Shannon don't you be giving young Dylan ideas above his station. Why only last week we caught him with his head inside CiC translating Sean's tutorials into Welsh when he should have been a milkin' the yows. I seen what becomes o' them young literary types from the vallys. What kind o' life is that presenting Hoff brifysgol Cymru whilst dressed in a paisley orange shirt and brown cord jacket. Young lad should be a wearin' his blue boiler suit and wellies with pride. Aye andMaybe you should also consider a writing career.
By Carreg Cennen, King of time,
Our Heron Head is only
A bit of stone with seaweed spread
Where gulls come to be lonely.
A tiny dingle is Milk Wood
By Golden Grove 'neath Grongar,
But let me choose and oh! I should
Love all my life and longer
To stroll among our trees and stray
In Goosegog Lane, on Donkey Down,
And hear the Dewi sing all day,
And never, never leave the town.
Steve, very descriptive...!! did you write that?? made me feel like I was strolling down some country lane in the UK... I see we have lot so talented people here.. Maybe there should be a poetry thread... I always admire people that can spin words together like silk..![]()
Alas no. They are lines from Dylan Thomas's epic Under Milk Wood. It is gorgeously indulgent script for radio that lays open life in a small welsh village. I personally think it is a better piece of the picturesque than anything that Hardy has to offer. In fact it is a prolific epic of the modern Cymmrodorrion. Google it the full scripts are online.
