Lenses for my D7000

I am buying the Tokina 100mm Macro and Nikkor 70-300mm. I really debated on getting the better 70-300 with VR but cannot justify it as of yet. Now, my last debate with myself is do I get the Tokina 12-24 2.8 or the Nikkor 1.8 35mm? I need a decent wide angle lens which will allow me to focus at a closer distance than my kit lens of 18-105 3.5-5.6.

I spent a good part of the weekend reading reviews of lenses and pretty much across the baord, the Tokinas came out on top of all the other non-nikkor lenses. The 12-24 was given rave reviews and that's what makes it so tempting...so, A: does anyone out there have any of these lenses, and B: which ones would have the most usage.

I rarely shoot portraits. I love scenics, land or seascapes and flowers, bugs, etc.

Replying to myself..I went with the 35 1.8 Nikkor AF...the 12-24 will have to wait for my next bonus.

I am completely in love with my 35mm f1.8 and use it as my day-to-day standard.

As the the wide choice then personally I don't think 12mm is wide enough for a DX and would recommend one of the 10mm options. My Sigma 10-20mm is getting on a bit now but has given me some if the best pictures I've ever taken - every one hard up against the 10mm stop.

Yes, I can see those two possibly being my next lenses, but I need to use the ones I have before I can justify buying even more

I went with the Tokina 10-17 and the Nikkor 55-300. I have an 18-105 that is pretty sharp for a kit lens and a 50mm 1.8 for my walk around shooting. Next on my list is the 100mm Tokina Macro.

I'd be interested how you find the 55-300, especially if you have the 70-300 too.

I am using D7000 with 18-200 vr2 (walk around lens), 35mm F1.8 (lovely) and a tamron 90mm (for macro).

I love 35mm f.18 prime lens. Fast and sharp, good for low light condition. Here are some of the shots in 35mm.

I'd be interested how you find the 55-300, especially if you have the 70-300 too.

Well, I sent the 10-17 back because it was too over the top for me in the wide angle department, and now I use a 35mm 1.8 more than the 50mm, though both get a lot of use. I did get the Tokina 100 macro and a 55-300 Nikkor telephoto which I absolutlely adore (Dragonfly closeup was shot with that lens).
