Hi Chris and welcome to CiC.
Nice image. The square crop works well for some images andthe mantra of F\fill-the-frame works but with a shot like this the beak of the bird is closer to the edge than its tail. There is an emotional line drawn bythe bird's gaze that we tend to follow but it is too close to the edge and feels cramped. It is often a good idea to leave some negative space for the bird tobe looking into and in this case it is well diffused with your shallow DOF sothe interest still stays with the bird. Just a tad of sharpening would alsomake the bird pop off the background.
