In keeping with one of the current threads, "What do you see," I rarely plan a shot, instead relying on the seredipity of any given moment, mush like this guy. He was on a leaf just at the door of a greenhouse I was exiting. I hadn't seen him on entry, and almost didn't see him on exit, for the chance of a marvelous little lizard who managed to evade my lens...so I think my answer to the question is not to plan, but certainly be open to opportunity when it presents itself; be aware of your surroundings and be on the ready.
