It depends. For me, I like your image regardless of the aperture opening. You might get some more extra detail stopping down the lens but as it is it works very nicely for me. My small minor suggestion would be to lose some of the sky and position the horizon on the top 1/3 based on the rule of thirds principle and that's it. A very nice image for me, Chriss. My first thoughts were much the same as Willie. I would crop a little from the top and you could afford to lose a corresponding amount from the right side.
A smaller aperture may have obtained slightly better detail in the shadows but would only come at the expense of shutter speed or ISO so you may well have lost more than you gained. Particularly from those moving waves.

So just get rid of the top portion of the image right?
If you will slowly scroll down this page, you can actually play with the cropping of the image at the top. I think it was Donald who gave us this idea. Hehehe.
And hold a piece of paper against the sides to see that alternative.
