A good capture, Doug. You nailed the exposure nicely on this shot. In my opinion, you can still crop this one tighter as the green background does not add much to make the shot stronger so I guess you can sacrifice some of it for more focus on the bird.
Nice shot, Doug. I often see Green Herons when I'm out kayaking, but I've only ever taken my little SeaLife camera out on the kayak and haven't gotten a keeper shot yet. They are such cool birds - I like them much more than Blue Herons.
Nice capture - though I would probably move the heron a bit more to the right in the frame to put it on one of the thirds (but that's just me).

Ahh....ya beat me to it! lol I was about to post nearly the same shot. lol Was a nice day for a walk around the zoo and this little guy was one of my favorites.
Hi Doug, it's a nice pic!
I like the way the foliage surrounds the bird, expecially the stem above its head, it seems like a chapel...
following the suggestion of Jiro and Ktuli I have PP a bit your image, changing also a bit the WB (a little toward yellow.. in few words)
I hope you don't mind
Nicola
I cropped and moved the focus to the right third and bottom third. What do you think?
Doug
Personally, I like the 2nd image. You did very good on the cropping.
