The colors were so intense, I keep going back to repost process them. They seem a little bit dark, maybe, but I don't want to blow the colors out. What do you think?
    Hi Katy,

That last one looks well over exposed to me and as Peter says, the others are fine.

Is it possible that your monitor has been accidentally (mis) adjusted?
You don't normally have this problem.

    Cheers,

    Cheers,
I was thinking that this last one is the only one that you'd say was okay. Well, that's different. I think that it's just a problem with a new post processing experience - such deep rich colors. It's only overexposed in pp; so, I can fix it - no prob.

Thanks for watching out for me, Dave!

Both photos from le jardin de Cadiot (Carlux, Dordogne, France). Alas, the most rainy day of my holidays

the problem with photographing gardens is that most people don't label the flowers and I end up naming my photo "red flower".

Well the problem for me is that sometimes I just can't figure out the name of the flower (let alone labeling it). But for gardens I just stick to the name of the garden. These are overview photos anyway, so I don't mind too much.

The last one actually looks quite English in my opinion, probably the influence of Azincourt coming through.

Another wonderful thread that I missed starting up because I was on holiday. Glad it came back into the Latest Threads list and I was able to spot it.

Great idea and, already, some outstanding images in here.

I agree with Donald on that one (but obviously!) It's a wonderful idea and thread and, beyond that, just plain inspiring and a thrill for us simple photographers who are, also, gardeners. I have more photos from NYC botanical gardens but I've been separated from the iphoto library for three weeks, now. oy! and, most importantly, Peter, I've loved your last series of installments.

    Hi Peter

You have some lovely images here, as have the other contributors. I have posted a couple of shots from a city garden in my little neck of the woods, Brisbane Australia. They are the Roma St gardens and as you can see have a sub-tropical flavour. However they do have some nice flower plantings as well, and these are regularly updated.

Lighting conditions for photography are not ideal here because we have such bright sunlight during the day and shadows are a major problem early morning or late afternoon. I've tried a CPL filter lately but without much success.

    Cheers Dave

Both photos shot in the garden of Marquessac. Both photos show the same loaction, but from different angles. On the shot below you can see the windows that appear in the peacock photo and on the top left the wall that he stands on.

What I like about these gardens (the same is true for some of the English gardens) is the contrast that you see between the flowers and plants on the one side and the ageing materials of the buildings on the other side.
