    Advice on b&w photo

    Hi everyone,

I'm just getting started with learning more about photography and I'm using a a Panasonic FZ-28.

I took this photo the other day and I would really appreciate any criticism and adivce about the composition and how to enhance via post-processing (I'm trying to learn how to use Gimp...)

Many thanks and sorry for the clumsy post,
    Gabriela

    Gabriela,

I don't know Gimp ( I'm still try to learn it).
I do like this picture, but, I see this or a bit closer or alot far from the girl (on the second option, I presume the street was almost empty, to preserve the "solitude" feeling)

Below is a small attemp of enhancing a bit the photo (most probably not the best one)

I saved your picture, duplicate layer
In "levels" I raised a bit only blacks, and in "curves" as well. Also I incresed the sharpness on the second layer.

Hope you don't mind about changes.
