    Re: Woodland pics

I would like to say thanks to all those that have contributed to this discussion and put forward so many insightful comments. I guess Paul has come closest to specifying what was on my mind when I posed the original question; it is the deciding what to focus on to make the subject of a shot when trying to take woodland photos that perhaps I struggle with most. And often that is because the scene that confronts you has wonderful appeal to the emotions, which is so hard to translate in a photo and capture within it. However, the beauty and serenity of the light in the woodland scene Paul was able to capture is revealing and inspiring. All the more so as there is no obvious one focal point within the scene; the scene captured is a whole and if there is a subject it is the light within that scene and the way it highlights the colours of the scene that lifts it as a picture to something that is eye-catching. So thanks for the comments and ideas to everyone and I hope the discussion provides ideas to more than just me.

Many thanks to both Donald and Frank for giving me exactly the kind of criticism (in the best sense of the word) that is thoughtful, constructive and helpful to me.
