Hi Jiro,
stunning pic and a very valuable "making of"! If there is any room for C&C - I would have liked to see a tiny bit more structure in the very black regions. But be honest - I have no idea how to do, since the dynamic range of the pic is huge .
Thanks for showing that extraordinary pic!

Yes..but I am going to pretend it is not there - it is a beautiful shot with it...I am just saying it would be outstanding without it. I pointed it out because I would have on any other shot regardless of the quality of the rest of the image....what image? arrrg I'm going to bed with a bag of chocy eclairs and a good bookYes or No?
Yes, I agree, it does look more prominent now as it fills more of the screen area. It's the old argument about Indian restaurants (in the UK). You never notice the tatty flock wallpaper as long as you have three pints of lager inside you and your mouth is on fire from a Vindaloo.
Whatever turns you on, baby! He could always borrow mine?
I had to include it, Steve for contrast. The full bloomed flower still looking towards the sun even if it is already fading away to the horizon and it looking the opposite direction and still unopened. The other unopened bud facing to the right is caught in between. Well, my subconscious mind made me set it up this way for drama while still experimenting with the exposure. Hahaha!
As very much a beginner in photography, especially with a DSLR, I find myself studying other people's photos almost as much as attempting to take them myself. And it seems to me that many of them are content to craft technically wonderful pictures (who wouldn't be?); razor sharp, lit to perfection etc., but others like your good self are using technical knowledge gained as a means to also express what you feel about the subject and not just an attempt to turn three dimensions into two as accurately as possible.
Sorry to ramble on, but what I'm trying to say is that you have caught a special picture here, you can tell that by the interest its generated. Your personal take on a flower and a moment - others would do it differently, but for me, I've yet to see a better rendering of the subject.
Cheers,
Mike.
Oh, and thanks for giving us that wonderful resumé of what went into the making of 'At The End of The Day'.
Not at all. I for one, quite agree with you, and I said something along the same lines HERE only yesterday. Technical stuff finishes off a good image, and makes it slightly better, and if it's used in a professional capacity makes it more acceptable for use. But the mark of a good shot is in it's ability to capture what Wordsworth referred to the 'flash upon that inward eye'.
BTW You should know that we specialize in 'rambling on' on this forum So you are making good progress.
Thanks Rob
Thanks, Mike for the compliment. Btw, you're welcome.
stunning light Willy. Very well done!
Thank you very much, Jeroen.
Thanks for going into the shooting detail Willie. Much appreciated.
