Nikon 135mm f2 DC lens

Hi,

Does anybody use this lens for portraiture? If so, what do you think of it and is it worth looking at purchasing?

I don't do much portraiture but want to start as my first grandchild is on the way and want to spend lots of time taking some nice baby shots etc.

I used to shoot a Nikkor 135mm 1.5 lens years ago with my film camera - Shot tons of portraits with it...lovely optics but be prepared for a pretty heavy lens. I suspect the 2.0 lens isn't much lighter.

Hi Chris,

Do you know much about the Defocus Control of this lens. Apparently, you have more control over the Bokeh effect. In your opinion would it be worth getting one for baby and portrait photos.

I do not know this particular lens, only that a 135 in film is a great portrait lens. II would think something more along the lines of a 100 or 105mm lens would be better in a digital mode...but, so much of this from there (film) to here (digital) is still quite Greekish to me. Wish I could be of more help...also, are you shooting full frame? that will make a difference in lens choice.

Now Mr Rockwell does tend to … err …. polarise opinions. However his technical reporting I've found to be factual, useful, and accurate. You may like to view his opinions with some caution.
