Yes, Rob, at 6.3 your depth of field is going to be a bit shallow and most lenses get a bit soft towards their extremities; and a x2 will magnify any softness.
Shooting at say F11 with that converter will cause other problems with shutter speed and/or high ISO. That combination really needs good light for wildlife work.
But #4/5/6 have all worked well.

Geoff, I think F7-8 would be the sweet spot. I'll probably give it a shot tomorrow afternoon.
