#2 and #3 for me. I think it's because the mood of the shot and the treatment used worked beautifully with the images. #1 seems to be caught in between.
Like these photo's Rob.Tried something like #1 but was not happy with the results. Will go home and take photo's of my walking stick that i made for the turks head knots that are tied on it.#2 and #3 are very good images, but #1 has the piece of expanded metal in the background which takes my attention away from the rope and capstan. Thanks for sharing...Ron.
3 for me... I like the portrait look of it.
The photos I see on this forum are really opening my mind to what can make good photo opportunities-I'd never have given a thought to these and the same are down at the Gloucester docks.
Rob..Yes, Capstan are still available it seems http://www.mysmokingshop.co.uk/index...man=129&cat=79
LOL! You obviously haven't seen my toothbrush shot. The most mundane of objects. (Adult content) http://www.flickr.com/photos/carregw...57623374448551
I agree. #2 is a keeper and #3 needs to be on a wall with a gallery surrounding it... Ha!! I just looked at the toothbrush pic. I don't think there's a forum category for that one!
I love the detail and texture in #3, but the background really makes this shot, so I have to ask... how much of the bg is due to PP? Might we see an unprocessed version? I'm trying to understand how much of this was visualized and captured in camera. Convincing the knot to pose in this light must have been a real trick. Either way, it took a very good eye to obtain this result.
What...no whips and chains....sheese!
You could have left out an l an ly and really made it humorous..or not.
Bondage is another word (like 'gay') that has been appropriated by modern society. Somerset Maugham's book Of Human Bondage doesn't feature whips either. I think the original meaning of bondage is relating to serfdom/slavery (being tied to something). And that, of course, was my intention! Still, the thread title will either get ignored by the Google search engine bots, or, and this is preferable, we suddenly get a lot of very interesting new members here on CiC! "Hi, I'm John, and I like using GIMP..."
sorry about that...
Don't, for heaven's sake let Wirefox see this thread, or we will be inundated with all those leather boot shots again. I think he's left the forum anyway - he's moved to Virginia Water in Surrey.
