Very nice shot!
Just saw some of your photos in your album. You have some great ones there, I particularly liked your people in B&W.
The lady on the bench is cool. I have never taken photos of strangers. I'm skeered.
Hi Jim,
If you could have a read of this and particulalarly the "How to make an attached thumbnail appear larger and inline" bit, it'll make feedback easier and save me a job
Cheers,
Hi Jim,
I like the shots, but the big/white JIM PAYNE writing on two of them draws my eye directly to the writing, rather than letting if flow through the image. Some people are more sensitive to this than most - I'm one of the ones who finds that it simply over-powers everything else. Many will suggest putting copyright / watermarks in a boarder / matte surrounding the image.
Thank you , I put my name on the photo or across the photo to prevent ( to some degree) someone from trying to use the photo. I still have not learned HOW to do the watermarking on photos. I do see what you mean about the writting drawing the attention away. Thank you for the tip!
Jim
Hi Jim,
Yours is a very common response, but in my personal opinion, it's kinda self-defeating ...
Some thoughts ...
1. It's a trivial matter to remove in Photoshop or any other image editing program - so it's really only a minor deterrant
2. It ruins the photo for many people
3. It's unlikely that anyone else would use it - no offence (my shots are in the same category) - it's just that there are a gazillion photos on the net
4. If someone did use it, we probably wouldn't even know about it
5. If someone did use it, it wouldn't take any money out of your pocket.
I faced the same dilemma with all of my commercial for sale images - you'll find them all in my gallery - at reasonable resolutions - without any watermarkings. Yes - occasionally they're been used without permission, but it's never taken any $$$ out of my pocket to the best of my knowledge. On the other hand, I've seen sites that only display watermarked images at low resolution that are for sale - and last time I checked, they hadn't sold a single one. So I think there's a message in there somewhere.
