Pretty Flower?

Nice shot - beautifully vibrant colors. If this is cropped, you may want to back off the crop and get the edges of the flower in the left edge of the frame. If not cropped, something to think about next time.

Thanks Bill and Mary. The photo posted is not cropped. If I backed out some I would start to get background stuff and wouldn't see as much detail on the flower petals - this really was what got my interest in taking the photo. I darkened the background a little in editing and blurred the lower right corner a tad. I didn't do anything with color saturations.

A very nice flower indeed, Brian. Was this shot from your backyard? If it is, I know a certain photographer who has some pretty slick trick up his sleeve controlling the background by using a colored blanket to cover it. Pretty neat, huh. He was really able to get very good results doing that. Your shot reminded me of a not so old post from Rob wherein a pink flower was set against a dark background and the shot was nothing short of amazing. I wonder if you can do an indoor shot similar to that on this flower. Nice find and nice shot.

Good idea Jiro, as is not uncommon with you!
I haven't dabbled too much in backgrounds. Most of the fabric ones I have noticed are in portraits and I am 94% of the time not impressed with them for some reason. I've never thought to try one on something like this.

I think my other forum friend uses a macro lens so he can blur the fabric nicely. Worth a try if the background is really too busy to begin with.
