I'm asuming that teh centre orange was the point of focus on the image, but it seems little soft. Whereas I think you got the close up of the church right in the first one, I think this one does need sharpened up. Either that or the focus is not spot-on.

The orange photo was taken with a 500mm f/6.3 mirror lens, manual focus on the center orange. No matter how well I focused the lens, with the use of a tripod, I could not get a decent image. So I thought maybe it's my focusing technique or my eyesight, so I used a 18-55mm nikkor lens on the building and tried to manually focus. Again, it did not look totally in focus but I tried to place blame on my camera's LCD. The image looked fine on the computer screen but I still wasn't sure. Also, when I used auto focus, the image did not appear to improve. I've tried single point and dynamic area (using Nikon D60) and single point seems to help a bit.
I am not seeing the church all I see is the oranges.
