An Island in a Field of Gold

I decided to post this one up next from my recent trip to France, based on the fact that Katy showed us the production shot' from one of her images in this thread earlier today.. This is the first and only 'serious' image I've made with someone else around; i.e. my partner, who made the 'production shot'.

We were driving through the countryside when I happened upon this scene. Immediately, I could see the image I wanted to make (whether I have done a good job or not is for you to decide yourself). I had to turn the car around and find somewhere to park off the road. My dearly beloved patiently waited whilst I captured the shot I wanted.

I was happy to have a very high sun, as I didn't want the island of trees casting a shadow. I also wanted the sun fully out from behind clouds in order to get the right light on the barley (that took a while as it kept dipping in behind small clouds - as you can see from the 'production shot' below)

Anyway, whilst I was standing in the ditch (which was dry) at the side of the road - in order to get low enough, her good self was back at the car taking this. The gorgeous coloured blob down at the roadside is me.

    It is imaginary Gold silly

    (no offence intended)

    Or perhaps Imagery Gold?

Actually Bobo, I know what you mean; the pale tone of the B&W conversion belies the truth revealed by Mrs MacK's shot, it's still a bit green at this point in time, although a bit of sun would no doubt help.

    Nice one Donald (as usual).

    Cheers,

Thank you all for your comments.

I assure you that once the sun hit the field, it was not the green you see in the 'production shot', but that bright sparkling golden hue. That's why I waited around for ages for the sun to be right. When I first drove past it 15 minutes earlier, that is how it was. By the time I got somewhere to turn the car and then park it and then walk back down to the location, there was more cloud around. Setting up the shot was easy. It was waiting for the sun that took time.

Though I'm more than two years late to the party, this photo is as good as ever.

The black and white image is excellent; the color one is good
