Anyone for the Wilderness

Some shots taken in wilderness areas of Tasmania on a recent holiday. Weather wasn't the best but a bit of pp helps. Best viewed in Lightbox.

This is the one that I think stands out as an image. When compared to the other two, I think this is more complete and well structured/composed image. There is interest from front to to back

Looks like a haven for bugs...

I like the King River best of the 3. The light colored outcropping shore line makes this work (our eyes are drawn to light color on dark backgrounds) the "near-far" works well.

I tweaked a bit: popped the contract, cropped out some of the support element (top & bottom). I think this enhances the "subject a bit more.

Thanks Paul. Your pp gives a very striking look to the image and I like it. Some might argue you've gone a tad too far with the colour saturation but these things are always a matter of personal taste I suppose.

Yes Michael, I think the King River is more picturesque than the Gordon (which seems to get all the publicity). The Wilderness Steam Railway winds along the edge of the King River and it is a wonderful excursion to take.

I too like the composition of the King River shot. I do get the feeling that it would have benefitted a bit by the use of a polarising filter to cut down on the glare off the water and increase the saturation of the trees a bit.

Thanks Tommy. You could well be right about the filter, particularly if you were to see the original shot without pp. This shot was taken fairly hurriedly during a short pit stop on the train journey.
