Oh! heh, heh. Rob has us conditioned to see pessimistic wild things, when we think of Welsh Ponies. Imagine the surprise to see all this gorgeous color. I love your framing and all of the flow in the photo - leading my eyes around. Also, it's great how there's light on the main focus and shadow for the secondary part.

but, whatever... it's just plain fun!

I like the compressed or crowded look giving a busy feeling, and colour.

Yep; I took a pic of a horse once, then it disapeared. The horse I mean.
It is probably back with your roundabout. The photo is taken with a 10D and is therefore not up to modern resolution.

It's a super image. As well as what Willie said re the depth-of-field, I think the lighting has worked wonderfully, with the figure in front being more brightly lit than the one behind, which presumably is more under the canopy above.

And your composition (incl how you've framed it all up) works beautifully. Many people would have come back out to get a wider view. You've gone right in and drawn upon the detail. Superb.

That is right Donald; gives you the idea it is on a roundabout. The crowded feel is wonderful because on a roundabout it is crowded. Unfortunately mine was in a wood, and the only non fake thing I could think was to lie on the ground and point up its nose in the direction of the monument.

I did not want to get wet though.

Horses for courses; the roundabout is exactly done because we all know what they look like, but close up isn't always right. I'm only showing a similar if not identical horse though.

Thank you everyone for your comments. I did try a few with a wider shot but I wanted to show how vibrant the colours were and the wonderful detail. The ponies have such lovely smiles, they genuinely look like they are enjoying themselves especially as the music was typical Carousel organ sounding but it was playing Tom Jones tunes - really made me smile.
