On the Road to Ouroux

We're starting to get to the end of the road with these 18 images (+2 in colour) that I made from my recent holiday in France (you'll be relieved to hear!). I've got two folders. The '1st Division' are the 18 I've been working through here over the past couple of weeks or so.

The '2nd division' contains the 'nearly but not quite' collection that I'd still want to go back and look at from time to time as a reminder of a lovely holiday.


Nobody seems to do too much rushing about up in the Haut Beaujolais. Things are organised and ordered.

Wandering around the area as a visitor, whether by car or any other means of transport, is a peaceful delight. Walking is a big past-time in the area.

In the 30 minutes spent at this location, no other car passed by.

I'll happily go first, again, this time. but, what else could I say but....sigh! or,.... a sighing sea.... It's sun drenched, too, and completely feels quiet to me. Floating clouds, quiet, winding, dirt road. What a day it seems to be!

I'm sure that I would have felt this - even if I had never read your words! Wonderful!

I hesitate to ask, but would it stand a little clockwise rotation, several things lead me to ask; the cloud bases, the long building, both horizontals and verticals, the distant valley floor. However, I accept that may 'spoil the view' as it would give more of a slope to the cornfield and road.

Yet another beauty , donald. I like the way the road leads you in and through this image, and the group of trees ,has you wandering what is around the bend. And then that beautiful sky takes over and leads you to the far hills. Brilliantly composed!!!

You are right ... on both counts. I have to confess to not noticing that the building was so far off. I was very much lining it up on the basis of how the slope, the trees and the road looked. The valley floor did have the right-to-left slop, although my image probably exaggerates that.

That's exactly how I saw it, Steve. In fact, this is not the shot I was at that location for. I just saw it as I was standing there. The shot I was standing there for was this one. But once I had composed that one and was standing about just waiting for the sun to get out from behind some clouds (as I describe in that other thread), I saw this one. So, I am standing in exactly the same spot for both; i.e. a pretty deep ditch running between the edge of the road and the crop, which you cannot see in this because it's covered in grass. But I was up to above my knees in this, thankfully, dry ditch.

And you can see the bunch of trees in the 'production shot' I put up in that other thread.

Thank you, John. I, too, can transport myself back by looking at this image. It truly was a most beautiful place.

You are right about the other one. He wasn't so much 'at' the cycle race as in the same place as it, trying to ignore it.
