    Willie

I'm wondering if the DoF is just a bit too shallow?

It works fine everywhere, except I think on the bottom of that front edge of the brush. I just wonder if that needed to be sharp?

Be interested in reading what others think?

Thanks, Donald. I was also thinking the same thing. I was testing manual focus on my 50mm lens and I aimed my focus on the dark areas of the hairs near the metal plate. I can change the focus point to the end of the brush and let's see if it would make a stronger image. It's way too hot outside that I had to find anything inside the house to shoot. I took a cardboard box, put it near the window, got some old pants of mine and a paintbrush and this was it.

    Here's the reshoot:

    A painter's tool...

I won't convert my files anymore to .dng. It slows me down like a snail when I work! Back to .nef and .tiff for me.

    50mm, ISO 400, f/4 at 1/30 second.

This second image is great, Willie. The DOF gives it a much stronger feel and for me, personally, I like the color image. Nice shot.

And I feel for your pain in the heat. It was 108F here today with a heat index of... 'Suffocate Mary'.
