    The World is my Stage

Shot this 10-Slice Panorama whilst on holiday last week. It's shot from the stage of the Bowl of Brooklands where I've been priviliged to hear the likes of Cilla Black and the Black and White Minstrals (to show how old I am!).

Yes, well we'll quickly skip over that one then!

You can smell the cleanliness and freshness of the air. Lovely image, Colin.

Wow! Great panorama, Colin! I think someone is missing landscape photography!

    Thanks Ali,

Yeah - I have been a bit distracted from it the past few months - getting back into it now though. I think I've shot something like close to 100 images for my gallery so far this year.

    Thanks John,

I normally use Panorama Factory for doing these, but this time I just decided to try Photoshop CS5's feature, and it worked well (I didn't have any wide-angle lenses with me).

Absolutely beautiful, Colin. It looks like there is something curved at the bottom. I'm surprised that you didn't do something with that??

    Hi Frank,

Thanks for the kind words. The roof is one big curve, the shadow of which you can see in the photo - is that what you mean?

Ah yes, Colin. Now that I opened it in lightbox it makes sense. Should have done that earlier. I had thought it was something to do with the panorama process.

Thanks for posting the image. It makes me want to find some pano scenes to shoot but it has not only been excessively hot but the air quality has been so poor that I've been staying indoors. <sigh> Oh well, it has given me ample to practice my post processing on older images from the Sony P&S.

    Cheers!

    No worries Frank,

Yeah - panos are tricky to view - there's such little vertical information that one has to make them exceptionally wide to be able to present any detail for further inspection like this. To be honest, the shot was never supposed to be a "shot stopper" (pun intended ) - just a place that has many memories for me, from days gone by.

    Thanks Scott,

That can be arranged - what's your singing voice like?

Very sharp, especially when you have a human subject in the frame. What was your particular object of iinterest, the reflections, the wide expanse, or a combination of all?

Normally I can clear people out faster than a fire alarm using just a camera

    Hi John,

It was Just a "snap" really - just to remind me of what it's like being there.

My second career would be (if I were so talented) a crooner like Frank Sinatra or Harry Connick Jr. unfortunately my skills are in significantly different areas!

I watched a Michael Buble DVD the other day - at one part in the live concert he went for a walk amongth the crouwd and got handshakes, hugs, and kisses from everyone close by. When he got back to the stage he said "what a freaking life I have!".

It'll be a great day when photographers are held in such high regard

A lovely wide vista, luv it!

Have you tried shooting pano's in portrait format Colin? They do tend to suffer more distortion at the top and bottom but you get so much more workable area to play with.

    Hi Keith,

    Thanks for the kind words

It was shot vertically, with about 15 to 20% overlap, with manual exposure (SPOP) (Standard Panorama Operating Procedure )
