New member from hot and dry Tahoka, TX

    Hello everyone!!!

My name is Kris Harmon. I am a 39 year old father of three. I come to this forum as a place to learn. I am a novice photographer when it comes to shooting with a digital SLR so I'm sure I will have a lot of questions.

My primary interest in photography is in the area of severe weather (lightning) and landscape photography. I'm also interested in learning how to use my Corel Paintshop Photo Pro software to get the most out of my photographs.

I look forward to interesting discussion and sharing pictures and information with members in this forum.

Thanks to the administrators of the forums for providing this board to network with other photographers regardless of experience level.

Hi Kris, and welcome to CiC! Glad to have you on board. I'm sure you'll find plenty of folks with the experience and knowledge to answer almost any question you can bring to the table. I look forward to seeing some of your pictures and trust that you'll quickly come to the point where you can post your best in the Mini competitions!

Hello, Kris, and a very warm (but not hot and dry) welcome to CiC! I hope that you find the help and encouragement to grow that you're looking for. We have a lot of fun together as we journey along the way.

I drove through Tahoka several years back on my way to Amarillo...it was hot and dry, and arid, and desert-like, Gobi like, Saharan, .... But now you've come to the coolest spot in the digital world. Welcome!

You described this place perfectly. My home town is in the Austin area where we had hills and trees. To say the tallest thing in this area is cotton plants isn't much of an exaggeration. I hope, in the near future, to convince my wife to move back to the Austin area. I truly miss having five lakes within an hours drive.
