Hi Damien, surface tension can create some rather unusual photographs. Did you notice the almost perfect ball of water resting in the vein of the leaf in the second shot? A close up of that would be a very unique image indeed!
Nice images. I particularly like the BW interpretation with the apealling contrast of the darker green leaves and the highlighted droplets
thanks for the comments guys.
@Frank - I had'nt really noticed that until you pointed it out as I was concentrating on the droplet on the edge and a catchphrase "Living on the edge" HAHA!
Damien, Good stuff you have there. But be aware that dewdrop shots can become completely addictive
I suppose that plants must secrete waxes or suchlike onto their leaves as waterproofing, but it creates such wonderful effects on water for macro shots. Don't you just love the distortions of the underlying colours and patterns that occur?
Maybe you should start a dewdrop thread

I think this particular plant has very fine "hairs" on it, which manage to repel the water. Im sure others have wax substances.
I liked the effect that it gave off, had to get low to the dirt and change my shirt afterwards.
HAHA! Classic...sounds like extreme photography with kneepads!
In discussion this morning with a friend who takes photos around the world, it seems my knees aren't all I'll have to pad in order to get shots from unusual angles. If I take his advice I'm going to end up looking pretty strange But yes. Extreme photography. Surely there must already be extreme photographers out there?

P.S. Friend advises gardening shops for the knee pads.....
HAHA! Good one! Although i doubt I'll be getting kneepads soon....I enjoy roughing it.
nice set of photos damien
thanks

errr...thanks...umm...damien!
I love dewdrop shots too. My favourite is no. 1, even though the reflections have somewhat spoilt the effect. But I think this is more than compensated for by the fine hairs on the leaf which are so well defined. Definitely recommend the kneeling pad from the gardening section. When you are a person of a certain age you learn to watch out for your knees! I use a small tarp for lying on, but it does mean carrying extra stuff.
