I Have Tripod... Now What?

Hi Mary,

I just goggled the tripod that you have and it looks very much like My Fancier FT5602 where the center column can be tilted at different angles and not just go up and down. that feature comes in very handy for me when doing macro shots say like on a table where you can get the camera right above the subject. So I think you have a very versatile tripod that will last you a long time, its better than than standard run of the mill tripods the can only be adjusted up or down the center column

I hope you have lots of fun and take loads of fantastic photos...

Thank you, Dave. I did know it can do that... took me a while to figure out all the knobs and what did what. I think I will be able to learn a lot and use it for years to come. I am blessed to have it.

I would suggest purchasing or fabricating a tripod strap to make it easier to carry the tripod. EBay usually advertises some low priced tripod straps while fabricating a strap from a piece of one-inch nylon webbing with a loop at either end can do a fine job at a very minimal cost...

It came with a case... are they a hassle to use? It 'barely' fits strapped to my back pack, but is doable. I'll have to see what works the best.

But the amount of times I've seen people struggling (especially with a new tripod) with something they've hardly used. Put it this way, you're entrusting this bit of kit with your camera, so you'll want to know that it's properly set up and rock solid every time you use it.

I will echo that in spades. Even before learning all the great things your tripod can do for you, you have to practice using the controls until they become second nature. Otherwise, you get frustrated with one thing, forget about all the other things, and kerplunk, your camera hits the ground. Beyond that, I would not try to learn too many things at once - pick one new skill and work on that till you get it down, and then go on to another one.

Because I have to help unload the moving truck with the rest of our belongings. It's 98 degrees and humid... I might be dead shortly... escpecially if I don't get back out there with the water I'm inside getting..

I forgot to add the benefits of a quick release plate system. I'm not familiar with the make or model that you've got Lucymary, so I don't know wether or not the head comes with one. I find it invaluable (b*gger of a word to spell!) as you get set up before even attaching the box thingy.

I forgot to add the benefits of a quick release plate system. I'm not familiar with the make or model that you've got Lucymary, so I don't know wether or not the head comes with one. I find it invaluable (b*gger of a word to spell!) as you get set up before even attaching the box thingy.

My tripod did come with two quick release pkates. But, I don't think it works with my Black Rapid strap. So, I'll have to figure out how and what works the best.

Katy remembered that pink is my favorite color. She brought me a boquet of beautiful pink flowers when we met for lunch before I moved. Thanks for remembering, Katy.

Hi Janis I was looking at that, but it says itis specific to a Manfrotto plate. I think I'll call and ask them if it might work. I love the strap. One of the best gifts I ever received. Thanks for the link.

Everyone had to start somewhere even the pros how soon they forget dont let other people bother you they started unexperienced as well.Just go out and shoot shoot and shoot somemore an old man once told me stick with what fun and what your good with and you will be realy good someday i have been a freelance photographyer for over 20 years just stay with it because if you leave your camera at home on a shelf THATS a waste of money belive me the more you you shoot the better you will get the better you get the more you will like it .I myself i love it i do concert photography and wildlife & Lancape photography AND love it if you like landscape&wildlife it starts at 300mms and up there are times you will go below 300mm but not often.If you dont have wide angle lens or macro i would get them.And if you want to try concert photography get these lens 50 f 1.4 & 85f 1.8 70- 200 f 2.8 usm is lens these are prim lens prims are great lens they take great photos you can have top dollar cameras but without good glass forget it so you will pay more for prims thats a fact but its one of those you get what you pay for like i have said many many times before when you get a camera read the manual.Peace Don B.
