Sending molten steel flying over his head without any eye protection? An interesting, but very scary photograph!
If this were in the UK he would be fired on the spot. No hard hat and no goggles. I used to know a guy who had an 'accident' when a small steel rod when through his left eye and left him half-blind. His face was not a pretty sight even after they patched him up.
A staggering 55,704 workers were killed by accidents at work in the US between 2000 and 2009. That shot would be a great spot the hazards study.
I do agree it is a cool image Randy. But I would have cropped the roof at the top pf the frame and the cladding at the bottom of the frame. It would also be interesting to see what this would look like in b/w
Cool picture. Obviously a huge violation of OSHA regulations... hmmm... maybe all states don't have OSHA regulations. They should, though, because they are federal regulations. Hmmmm.....

OSHA stands for: Occupational Safety and Health Administration that came about from the Occupational Safety and Health Act in the early 1970's (I think it was 1970).
They have a bazillion rules and regulations that are intended to make the workplace and work-site safe for workers. Just like anything else, some of the rules are common sense things that shouldn't have to be regulated but people don't follow them if they are not, and then there a a million stupid things that should never be regulated and just cause a headache for companies.
I may not know photography but I did know this.
Yes, OSHA is one of the reasons that illegals can work for a fraction of the domestic labor cost in this country.
An example of an OSHA regulation: On all toilets in lavatories used by both genders, the toilet seats must be the type that are split at the front...
Sparks Fly could be a curious name to this thread especially if we are talking about OSHA! I don't want to get too far off topic from the picture which is pretty interesting but you should see what OSHA is doing now with roofers! More safety for roofers yes but done out of an enormous need to raise $ and not an honest desire to raise safety. That's the US governement. I still say we should populate congress the same way we populate a jury box. We would all be better off with a wonderful cross section of the US in D.C.!
Randy
Much better. Nice work. There is far more drama to this version
