A couple of us decided to visit Ottawa and off we went for the 1000km round trip. We stopped at a couple of places along the way and arrived pretty late.
One thing we wanted to catch was the Mosaika: Sound and Light Show on Parliament Hill. While the others were fixing up the hotel, off I went on foot tripod in hand. Stopped at a small park along the way to setup the tripod but dropped the screw on the ballhead. Looked everywhere but could not find it so decided to go handheld as the show was about to start.
Slapped on the 17-50 2.8, and no go handheld unless I went ISO6400 or higher. Luckily I had the 50/1.4 with me and was able to use that at ISO 1600, 1/15. Would have loved the width of the 17-50 but beggars can't to choosers.
Sidenote - went back the next day and luck was on my side - found the pin. I was sooooooo intent on getting a new tripod and had the perfect excuse!
It is a beautiful show and well worth seeing.
