    It may be an optical illusion, Jim, but the nail heads in the rowing dinghy appear to be 'as wavy as the sea'. I think I would give it a quick coat of paint.

    You have managed to get the whites perfect in these photos. As bright as possible but not quite over exposed. And a good sky in the last one.

    Thanks, I use a handheld spot meter. Really helps with whites. That, and shooting raw.

    Is that not deliberate to avoid adjacent nails falling in the same grain and causing it to split?

    Probably all part of the 'character' of a wooden dingy vs a modern one

    A good series Jim, just a few thoughts on each;
    #1 A good shot of a tricky subject, if mine, I might clone out, or dim down, the distant boat house/shed
    #2 The weakest shot photographically because you have been unable, in the circumstances, to separate the subject from the background clutter, despite excellent exposure and composition of subject
    #3 Well, I certainly can't say you have not separated the subject from the background on this one Love the picture, I'm just not sure about the speckly chroma noise - which I appreciate is deliberate and may be the best option
    #4 A classic shot very well executed, my only concern is the background being just a bit too dark, especially on the right hand side, I appreciate it is 'the truth', looking at sun and cloud formations, but perhaps 1/2 stop lighter?

    Hope that helps,
