My initial reaction to this was that it is bloody brilliant! And in most respects I really think it is.

Having looked at it for a bit though, I'm not entirely sure that the light rays precisely correlate with the lighting and shadows of Batman. I could be wrong there, but my feeling is that the light source is attached to the back wall, rather than a streetlamp on the edge of the pavement. Am I nit-picking too much here?

I wanna see more of these though Willie, I think it's great!

Thanks, Tommy. Batman was shot using my softbox positioned really up close. I painted a white cartolina with gray to make a gray backdrop. The other background was actually shot in broad daylight. I made it look dark and grungy in Lightroom then exported it in Photoshop. The other lighting effect (the ray of lights) was added during the post-processing to add some effect on the shot. Another experiment for me on post-processing. I'm glad you like it. I'll try to make some more next time.

Thanks a lot, Donald. I saw a tutorial doing this with human subjects. I studied it carefully and then used the same principle with my batman figurine. It worked!

I know what you mean! I run into the same issue when I try to replace a bland sky in a outdoor shot with one that is more interesting. Unless I'm careful when I select the replacement sky image the result can be very noticeable. I need to select a replacement sky that has compatible color tone, sun direction and height, shoot angle above the horizon, color temperature, time of day, etc. I'd expect the same kinds of issues apply here as well.

If you don't have a prospective model to work on, Niall, miniature figurines are the way to go and learn about lighting.

Thanks, Frank. I think I have to make some flags or barn doors for my softbox to control the spill. Another option would be to use a spot grid to selectively light up batman to mimic the light that I have added on the post processing. Iit would take some time to fabricate one but doable on my part.
