As distasteful as it may be to some, seeing those flies consuming the rotting pear in the second image means that other creatures will live on. Just as in the forest, from death comes life.
Also like the sharpness and colors of the leaves in the first image, and how that mature pear is just about to let go and find the ground. Can't speak to the technical parts, but I like them!

Two good, strong images. The first one really 'pops'. Excellent DoF management and a lovely composition that allows us to see through behind the foreground.

I can't say that I like the rotting fruit...
But I really like the first one. Interesting composition and the spots on the leaves really add some pizazz for me
