In this image Willie you have summed up perfectly the feeling I get when I try to compare my photography to yours!
This is sheer quality!
Yes!
The depressing thing is that this is, more and more, relevant as a metaphor for our society today.
Our Prime Minister now thinks it would be a good idea to evict those responsible for the riots in England last week, from their homes. That would really solve the problem! One can't help but think of the phrase, 'The lunatics have taken over the asylum'.
i think despair is as accurate as is desperate... we are cutting hairs on this one but I do like despair. The subject is both and well captured.
Willie, you have a unique talent for such images.
Reminds me of my drinking days on the way home from a party. Very imaginative as are most of your images...
Hi Jiro
As usual, great pic from you. I have an issue with the title though. 'Depressed' would seem to fit, all the elements point to this. However despair is a whole other thing in terms of severity & feelings of hopelessness, helplessness. Your mannequin concept is an apt one for society in a depressed state I think, with a sense of inability to act, but not really despairing yet. The place is too tidy. Of course, I am looking from a mental health viewpoint, so perhaps I am being a little too clinical.
Despair: I would expect there to be potholes in the road/driveway, boulders round about & perhaps an indication that the structure was falling apart. Mangled or wrecked road signs. Mangled, stained, torn mannequin. In other words, more indications of decay.
Hope you see where I am coming from.

That is much better. That texturing has polished the image off. Great work a gain Jiro.
Talking of despair...whats with the new avatar Donald. Its a great shot but you look as if your Yak has died. You could be easily looking down on the world in total despair.May I suggest this one insteadOur Prime Minister now thinks it would be a good idea to evict those responsible for the riots in England last week, from their homes. A fascinating concept and beatifully executed Willie, I really enjoyed following its evolution to the final image, geat stuff
Great stuff Willie. The title and picture go well together.
Hi Jiro,
This is another beutiful realization. The second edit is much better. In the first the figurine did seem like it was not blending well with the environment. The texture adds a lot to the image.
However I have the feeling that it could processed a little more in the same way. I think it can become an even more powerful image that way. But it's already very nice.
